Flaredown for Chronic Illness

Jul 24, 2019

Description

Flaredown is an app that allows users to track symptoms for a chronic illness. Users can enter in all symptoms, conditions, and treatments in one place and use the data from the app to find triggers, treatments, and more. The data can then be exported in CSV format for physician use.

Overview

The Flaredown for Chronic Illness app is available for free in the App Store and is built by patients for patients. It is a symptom tracking app and also functions as a community for people dealing with chronic illness, as users can chat with other people who are dealing with similar issues. The app allows users to rate and describe symptoms, enter in treatments, factor in environmental factors like diet and weather, and more.

Environment

The app even factors in external factors that could play into your symptoms. Simply enter your zip code and the app can track the weather and how that might affect your illness and symptoms. Additionally, you can browse the giant USDA food database to enter your diet, which also might factor into your symptoms.

Journal

The app functions as a diary, where users can log entries connected to the day of the week in a journal. This allows the users to not only monitor symptoms and treatments but actually remember how the symptoms felt at a given time, which can be helpful for doctors to know. Symptoms can manifest themselves differently, so this feature allows users to maintain accuracy.

Check In

Users can also have the app check in with them and ask about treatments, symptoms, and more. Since the app has all of the information about how the user manages the chronic illness, it is able to remind you and prompts you to fill in how active your conditions were, what your symptoms were like, what treatments you took, and more.
