iBeatPain for Teens

Jul 24, 2019

Description

The iBeatPain for Teens app helps teenagers manage chronic pain and related symptoms. The app provides guidance to teens and their parents for how to manage pain and allows teens to set goals to return to normal, everyday life. Teenagers face different challenges and this app allows them to overcome chronic pain and resume a normal, healthy lifestyle.

Overview

iBeatPain for Teens was developed in conjunction with the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation with the goal of helping teenagers manage chronic pain and practice healthy habits. It is not a diagnostic tool but rather a guide for teens to set goals, accomplish the goals, and function despite being in pain. Whether it’s school, homework, social situations, or anything else – teenagers need to overcome pain to live a normal life and this app helps them accomplish that.

Teenagers can feel alone when dealing with chronic pain, so the app allows users to connect with and talk to other teens who are going through similar pain.”

Inspiration

The app features an “Inspiration Box” that allows teens to access inspiration to guide them on their wellness journeys. Users can add quotes, photos, or vidos that motivate and empower them and can help them overcome pain and challenges. Teens can find inspiration through the app or add inspiration they found from family, friends, or elsewhere.

Connection

Teenagers can feel alone when dealing with chronic pain, so the app allows users to connect with and talk to other teens who are going through similar pain. With the link to Mayo Clinic’s Connect site, teens can meet other teenagers and find helpful advice from pain physician experts. They can also read educational materials provided by the Mayo Clinic.

Goals

Teens can use the iBeatPain app to set and accomplish goals that are personalized to them. The app offers recommended goals and also allows users to enter in goals of their own. Some examples of goals include brushing your teeth, practicing relaxation, eating meals, exercising, and other daily activities. Setting and reaching these goals allows teenagers to feel accomplished and show progress through the pain.
